            XXIV AISSEC Scientific Conference

Economic Development in the Era of Geopolitical Fragmentation

Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona, Italy, June 8-9, 2026

            Conference programme

After decades of deepening global integration, the world economy is now shifting toward growing geopolitical fragmentation. This fragmentation is inherently multifaceted, manifesting in disruptions to political alignments, trade, finance, scientific cooperation, and mobility, among other domains. Amid these shifts, Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a critical frontier for both economic development and strategic competition.

This conference invites scholars and practitioners to explore the intersection of these structural transformations and the role of transformative technologies in shaping an increasingly multipolar world, while maintaining a focus on the core challenges of economic development. We welcome the submission of theoretical and empirical contributions addressing (but not limited to) the following topics:

            • Innovation
            • Climate change
            • Productivity
            • Military conflicts
            • Trade/value chains
            • Socioeconomic inequality
            • Migration
            • Demographic transition
            • Digitalization
            • Social norms and values
            • Artificial Intelligence
            • Institutions

A comparative perspective is expected to enrich the debate and has traditionally been favored by the organizers.
